Thirroul stabbing

POLICE have arrested and charged a man following a stabbing at Thirroul last night.

Two men were at unit on Lawrence Hargrave Drive when they became involved in an argument about 10:30pm on Thursday.

Police will allege during the incident a 26-year-old man obtained a hammer and attempted to assault the other man inside the unit.

A further fight occurred outside the unit where the 26-year-old man allegedly chased the man down the street and stabbed him with a knife four times.

A 29-year-old man was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to Wollongong Hospital where he is expected to undergo surgery on his left arm.

Police attended the scene and arrested a 26-year-old man at nearby premises. He was taken to Wollongong Police Station and charged with reckless wounding and granted conditional bail to appear in Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday April 24.
