Wollongong city centre to get free wi-fi

PEOPLE have until Thursday June 21 to have a say on the proposed free wi-fi for the Wollongong city centre.

As part of the city centre revitalisation, Wollongong ity Council has been consulting on a free wi-fi service in Crown Street between Gladstone Avenue and Corrimal Street, the Civic Plaza and Globe Lane, to ensure the wi-fi service has sufficient capabilities for all users of the service.

A wi-fi service will allow the city centre to be marketed as a digitally savvy area which will improve the amenity and experience for community members and visitors. Each year more than 10 million people visit the Wollongong city centre.

Wi-fi is a facility allowing computers, smartphones and other devices to connect to the Internet or communicate with one another wirelessly within a particular area.

For more information or have your say call Council on (02) 4227 7111.
