TELEVISION personality Nigel Ruck was on hand to offer landscaping tips and advice at this weekend’s Our Backyard Festival.

Ruck is probably best known as a member of Backyard Blitz, a lifestyle television series that screened for more than six years. He has written two books on landscaping and lawns, and also contributes to a number of gardening and lifestyle publications.

Wollongong Botanic Garden curator Paul Tracey said said it was a real coup to have Nigel join in the fun of the inaugural Our Backyard Festival.

The Backyard Festival was held today in brilliant sunshine at the Wollongong Botanic Gardens, featuring tips on maintaining an environmentally-friendly and sustainable backyard.

There were 70 stallholders in the gardens selling everything from locally-made honey and jams to seeds and succulents.

Plus, there were workshops on growing veggies and chook keeping.
