Police storm Fairy Meadow unit after barricade incident

POLICE have arrested a man and woman following a barricade incident at Fairy Meadow.
The pair entered a townhouse on Carters Lane just after 10am today and forced out the female homeowner.
Wollongong Police responded quickly to the incident and established a perimeter.
Additional resources, including negotiators and officers from the Tactical Operations Unit and Dog Unit, were deployed to the scene when the pair refused to come outside.
About 3.20pm, heavily-armed officers forced entry to the residence and arrested the man, aged in his 40s, and woman, aged in her 30s, without incident.
They were taken to Wollongong Police Station where they’re assisting investigating officers with their inquiries.
It’s expected the pair, who was unarmed during the incident, will face charges.
