Man in court over Bellambi stabbing

A MAN appeared in court today charged over a fight at Bellambi, during which a teenager was stabbed.

About 10pm on Friday (November 9), a large number of people left a party in Chounding Crescent, Bellambi, and made their way to Rothery Street where a fight broke out.

Police will allege a 21-year-old man was involved in the brawl, during which a 17-year-old youth was stabbed multiple times. The injured teen was treated at Wollongong Hospital for cuts to his arm, chest, stomach and chin.

An investigation was initiated into the incident and a 21-year-old man was arrested yesterday (Saturday) at Wollongong Police Station.

He was charged with affray and refused bail. He appearsd before Wollongong Local Court today (Sunday November 11).

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
