POLICE are investigating the assault and robbery of a man at Wollongong Railway Station.
About 3.50am on Sunday the 21-year-old man and a friend were sitting on the platform when a man approached and demanded his wallet.
Shortly after, three other men appeared and all four began assaulting the 21-year-old, during which he sustained a cut to his nose and facial bruising.
One of the offenders took the man’s wallet, ATM card and phone.
The 21-year-old eventually broke free, ran from the station and contacted police.
A crime scene was established and forensically examined.
Wollongong police are investigating the incident. They have been given descriptions of two men who may be able to assist with their inquiries.
One is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, about 20 years old, 170cm tall, and with a muscular build. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a red bandanna and red shirt.
The second man is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, about 20 years old, 185cm tall, and with a medium to muscular build. At the time of the incident, he was wearing black pants, dress shoes and a black shirt.
