Son charged with attempted murder of parents

police 2A MAN has been charged with attempted murder of his parents at their home in Mount Pleasant.

Police attended a home on Rose Parade just before 6.30am on Saturday after they were alerted to a domestic incident.

Wollongong police found an 83-year-old woman unconscious with serious head wounds. The woman’s husband, also aged 83, was found with head and leg injuries. Both were taken to Wollongong Hospital where the woman remains in a critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

The couple’s 47-year-old son was arrested by police a short time later at the hospital. It’s alleged the man assaulted two officers during the arrest.

After the man was treated for minor injuries, he was taken to Wollongong Police Station where he was charged with two counts of maliciously inflict grievous bodily harm with intent to murder. He’s been bail refused and will appear at Wollongong Bail Court today (Sunday).
