POLICE are investigating after a child was attacked by two dogs at Bellambi on Tuesday.
Emergency services were called to a house in Waley Avenue about 2pm yesterday after reports of an injured child.
Police have been told the 10-year-old boy entered the enclosed and gated front yard of the property, looking for his brother. It was then he was attacked by two dogs, described as being a German Shepherd and a Staffordshire terrier cross.
The child was taken to Wollongong Hospital with bite wounds to his legs, arms, hips, stomach, buttocks and head. He has since been transferred to Sydney Children’s Hospital at Randwick, where he is undergoing surgery. His condition is not known at this stage.
Police have notified Wollongong City Council about the incident, and are continuing their inquiries.
