TOWRADGI Surf Life Saving Club will get a $188,000 facelift next year.
Wollongong City Council accepted a tender for the render and repair of the exterior works of the clubhouse by Deane Constructions Pty Ltd at its meeting on Monday December 15 2014.
The work is planned to start on 9 February 2015 and includes rendering the building’s dilapidated façade, removal of asbestos eaves, replacement of corroded guttering and downpipes and other minor repairs to the building.
“The surf club is in a harsh marine environment and is really starting to show signs of weathering,’’ Wollongong Lord Mayor Gordon Bradbery said.
“This work will allow Council to prolong the building’s life expectancy, and also ensure the volunteer surf lifesavers have a nice, safe environment to carry out their essential work in.’’
