THE two Austinmer rock pools have been reopened just in time for the busy Christmas holiday period.
Wollongong City Council has removed partially completed works and fencing around the pools.
Council has also conducted works to make the pools safer for summer to enable swimmers to access to the pools.
Mike Hyde said Council has worked hard since the original contractor went into voluntary liquidation in early December.
“Council has ensured that we have made the rock pools safe for swimming during the busy Christmas and New Year period,” Mr Hyde said.
Council will complete a scope of works for a future contractor to complete the works on the refurbishment of the two rock pools which are between 80 and 90 years old.
