Coalcliff bike crash

POLICE are investigating a fatal crash in Coalcliff on Saturday.
About 3.30pm emergency services were called to the intersection of Lawrence Hargrave Drive and Paterson Road, following reports of a crash.
Police have been told a motorcycle was travelling north along Lawrence Hargrave Drive.
At the intersection of Patterson Road, the motorcycle and a vehicle travelling south along the same road collided head-on.
The motorcycle continued, when it collided with another vehicle travelling in a northerly direction.
Paramedics assisted the pillion passenger of the motorcycle, a woman believed to be in her 40s and she was airlifted Wollongong Hospital; however she died a short time later.
The rider of the motorcycle, a man also believed to be in his 40s, was airlifted to Wollongong Hospital suffering serious injuries. No one else was injured during the incident.
Investigations into the circumstances leading up to the incident are underway and anyone with information is urged to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
