A MAN has been killed after he was struck by a vehicle when the driver failed to stop at Corrimal in the early hours of Friday morning.
Shortly after 2am on Friday emergency services received several triple zero calls regarding an injured man near the southbound lanes of Memorial Drive between Railway Street and Towradgi Road.
Police attended a short time later and found a 48-year-old man with critical injuries that are believed to have been caused by the impact of a motor vehicle. The man was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to Wollongong Hospital, where he later died.
Wollongong police attended and established a crime scene. Crash Investigation Unit officers also attended the location and have taken carriage of the investigation. Police have urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
