WOLLONGONG City Council is planning night works on the Thirroul shopping centre upgrade from Monday August 29 to Sunday September 4, weather permitting.
In order to place preformed concrete islands on Lawrence Hargrave Drive, Council will close the road from 7.30pm to 5.30am over this period. Traffic detours will be in place during this time to allow the works to be completed.
The replacement of the traffic island is part of the Town Centre upgrade to the western side of Lawrence Hargrave Drive from Beaches Hotel to the Arthur Street service station.
The works include new kerb and guttering and a new footpath surface that will match in style the existing upgraded footpaths in Thirroul. The streetscape design has seen two terrazzo art work panels, tree planting, seating, bike racks and bins installed.
The pedestrian islands will provide a safe crossing zone in Thirroul. Council apologises for the inconvenience.
