A MAN has been charged following investigations into a shooting in Woonona last week.
Just after 2.30pm on Wednesday September 21, emergency services were called to Mountain Avenue, after a man reported he had been shot.
Police will allege the 29-year-old man was shot in nearby Joanne Street before getting into his car and driving to Mountain Avenue. He suffered facial injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in Sydney in a serious but stable condition.
The man’s injuries were not considered life threatening and he has since been released from hospital.
Wollongong detectives commenced Strike Force Bunko to investigate the incident. Following investigations, about 10.15am today (Tuesday), a 28-year-old man attended Wollongong Police Station where he was arrested. He was charged with shooting with intent to murder, and refused bail to attend Wollongong Local Court today.
Inquiries by Strike Force Bunko detectives are continuing and further arrests are expected.
