A MAN has been charged after he was allegedly found in possession of a loaded firearm and weapons including knuckle dusters and a samurai sword at Russell Vale.
About 12.45pm on Tuesday, Wollongong police received information about a 28-year-old man acting suspiciously outside a home on Palmyra Avenue, Thirroul.
A short time later at about 1.15pm, police stopped a silver Ford Ranger on York Road, Russell Vale.
Police spoke to the 28-year-old driver, before searching him and the vehicle.
During the search, they allegedly found and seized a loaded pistol, weapon silencer, handcuffs, cable tie restraints, and other weapons including knuckle dusters, numerous knives, a samurai sword and martial arts nunchucks.
The man was arrested and taken to Wollongong Police Station where he was charged with six offences, including possessing a loaded firearm and knife in a public place. He was refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court today.
