POLICE have charged a man after a police pursuit through Woonona, Bulli and Bellambi overnight.
About 10.25pm on Sunday, police were patrolling Hillcrest Avenue, Woonona, when they attempted to stop a white Holden Commodore for a breath test.
The vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued from Woonona to Bulli, before the Holden Commodore collided with a marked police vehicle.
The pursuit continued through Bellambi, before it was terminated due to safety concerns.
Acting on information, police went to Popes Road, Woonona, and arrested a 27-year-old man.
A search of the premises allegedly found methamphetamine and cannabis and the Holden Commodore, believed to be involved in the pursuit. The drugs were seized and will undergo forensic analysis.
The man was taken to Wollongong Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing, before being taken to Wollongong Police Station. He was charged with driving while disqualified, breaching bail and dangerous driving, including failing to stop for police, common assault, and stealing – relating to another incident.
