A MAN has been charged after a barricade situation at Fairy Meadow on Wednesday.
Wollongong police were called to a domestic-related incident at a home on the Princes Highway, Fairy Meadow about 9am on Wednesday.
As officers arrived at the home, a 23-year-old man allegedly armed with two knives locked himself in the home. Another man and a woman were able to leave the home uninjured.
Police secured a perimeter and negotiations commenced with the man.
Just before midday, the man exited a door at the rear of the home and he was tasered and arrested. He was taken to Wollongong Hospital for assessment.
Once he was released, he was taken to Wollongong Police Station and charged with use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention, assault police officer in execution of duty (x2), behave in offensive manner in/near public place, destroy or damage property, and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm.
