A MAN has been charged over the suspected domestic violence-related death of a woman at Woonona.
Emergency services were called to a home on Gray Street, Woonona, about 11pm on Monday, responding to reports a woman had been injured.
Wollongong police and paramedics arrived on site but were unable to revive the 76-year-old woman, who died at the scene. A crime scene was established, and detectives began investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
Following inquiries, investigators arrested a 55-year-old man at Wollongong Police Station yesterday (Tuesday). He has now been charged with murder.
The man has been refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court today (Wednesday).
