MOTORISTS are advised of upcoming road closures on the M1 Princes Motorway (Mount Ousley Road) and Picton Road for essential maintenance work later this week.

Work will include vegetation removal, line marking, drain cleaning to improve water run-off and guardrail repairs.

The M1 will be closed between Bulli Tops and Memorial Drive, and Picton Road will be closed between the M1 and Wilton on Sunday November 10, weather permitting.

The roads will be closed in both directions between 8pm and 4am, to minimise the impact to motorists. Picton Road eastbound will be closed from 7.30pm to ensure the M1 is clear by 8pm. If work cannot be carried out due to poor weather the maintenance will be rescheduled to Sunday November 17.

Motorists travelling between Wollongong and Bulli Tops will be detoured via Memorial Drive and Bulli Pass, and should allow up to 10 minutes additional travel time.

Those travelling between Wollongong and the Hume Motorway will be detoured via Memorial Drive, Bulli Pass and Appin Road, and should allow up to 40 minutes additional travel time. Light vehicles can also use Broughton Pass between Appin Road and Picton Road while motorists travelling to the Hume Motorway can detour via Macquarie Pass.

More information about upcoming road closures including detour maps is available at rms.work/srrc

Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, and to follow the directions of signs and traffic control. For the latest traffic updates call 132 701, or visit livetraffic.com
