Corrimal swimming pool will reopen on Tuesday May 19 as Wollongong City Council eases coronavirus restrictions

SWIMMERS will be able to book in for a dip at Corrimal Heated Pools from tomorrow (Tuesday May 19) as Wollongong City Council ease coronavirus restrictions.

Corrimal will be one of three Council pools top re-open this week. The Continental Pool, and Dapto pool will also open for swimmers, but there will be changes in place to meet the NSW Public Health Order.

The NSW State Government has stipulated there is to be no more than 10 swimmers permitted at one time, and no more than one swimmer in a lane, Council will take bookings where swimmers are able to reserve a 30-minute window for laps.

The bookings will be made directly with individual pools (see below for times and locations) the day prior to the swim slot, and all users will be required to meet physical distancing guidelines and be in good health before swimming. If a family group, or a person and their carer makes a booking, each individual counts towards the pool total of 10 – even if they need to be in the same lane to support each other.

“I know people are keen to get back into the pools, and this step will allow that to happen,’’ Wollongong Lord Mayor Gordon Bradbery said.

“However, the risk related to Coronavirus is still very real and we need to work together to follow the guidelines to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of all in our community, including Council staff working at the pools.’’

As the new process is rolled out, Council will continue to monitor and review pool operations to ensure they’re meeting the updated guidelines. In line with the guidelines, toilet facilities will be open and change rooms will remain closed.
