Road works on Lawrence Hargrave Drive at Stanwell Park
SLOPE repairs are progressing on Lawrence Hargrave Drive at Stanwell Park, with work due to be completed on schedule and the road reopened next weekend.
Transport for NSW Regional Director Southern, Jo Parrott, said recent heavy rains had an impact on site but crews were able to continue working and the road will be reopened by 7pm on Sunday August 9.
“So far, more than 80 per cent of the soil nails required to stabilise the road have been installed, four sites have been completed and a 29 metre concrete retaining wall has been built at the highest risk site to stabilise and strengthen the slope,” Ms Parrott said.
“The remaining schedule includes completing work at six sites, revegetating slopes, installing mesh and shotcreting, with drilling at all sites expected to be completed soon.
“We thank the community for their patience with the road closure required for this work, which is essential for keeping the road safe and open to traffic in the long term.”
Ms Parrott said extra stops on train services are being provided for Stanwell Park residents with shuttle buses to and from the station to help the local community.
“More than 3600 passenger trips have been made on the shuttle buses so far, highlighting the benefit of providing this additional transport service to Stanwell Park residents,” Ms Parrott said.
Transport for NSW has been working to minimise congestion during the road closure by monitoring queues at key locations and having traffic control in place.
Detours are still in place via Bulli Pass (Princes Highway) and the M1 Princes Motorway and motorists should plan their journey to allow up to 45 minutes extra travel time.
Emergency services are ensuring service levels are maintained during the work.
