News, road works

Mount Ousley Road closed for two nights next month for essential repairs

MOUNT Ousley Road, or the M1 Princes Motorway, will be closed between Bulli Tops and Memorial Drive for two separate nights next month.

Transport for NSW says the closure of the road will allow the safe removal of vegetation, guardrail repairs, line marking and the cleaning of drains to improve water run-off.

Motorists travelling between Wollongong and Bulli Tops will be detoured via Memorial Drive and Bulli Pass, and should allow up to 15 minutes additional travel time.

Transport for NSW advise that Mount Ousley Road will be closed between Bulli Tops and Memorial Drive, and Picton Road will be closed between the M1 Princes Motorway and Wilton for one night on both Sunday February 7 and Sunday February 14, weather permitting. If work is delayed due to poor weather, it will be carried out on Sunday February 21.

The roads will be closed in both directions between 8pm and 4am on both days. Picton Road eastbound will be closed from 7.30pm to ensure the M1 Princess Motorway is clear by 8pm.

Motorists travelling between Wollongong and the Hume Motorway will be detoured via Memorial Drive, Bulli Pass and Appin Road, and should allow up to 40 minutes additional travel time. Light vehicles can also use Broughton Pass between Appin Road and Picton Road.

Motorists travelling to the Hume Motorway can also detour via Macquarie Pass.

More information about upcoming road closures including detour maps is available at nswroads.work/srrc

Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, and follow the directions of traffic controllers and signs.
