BRIDGE cycleway maintenance at Thirroul, the refurbishment of a stormwater culvert at Woonona and the replacement of a community centre roof at Fairy Meadow, are just a selection of the tenders given the tick of approval by Wollongong City Council.
All up, the variety of tenders saw Council move forward on more than $2.3M worth of works at its last meeting.
Wollongong Lord Mayor Gordon Bradbery said the range of tenders accepted reflects Council’s continued commitment in providing safe and accessible infrastructure for residents and visitors.
“Council is responsible for building, operating and managing our community’s diverse assets,” he said.
“These assets can be everything from the trees in our parks to shared pathways and community centres. To ensure they’re functioning satisfactorily and accessible to our community we need to regularly maintain and upgrade them.’’
The tenders accepted at the meeting included;
McCauley’s Cycleway Bridge Maintenance Works Thirroul – significant maintenance will be undertaken to the highly utilised shared path/cycleway bridge over Hewitts Creek. To ensure its longevity, the shareway bridge located at the northern end of McCauley’s Bridge will see a range of structural repairs completed including installation of a new decking system and paint protection works.
Culvert Refurbishment Works at 153 Campbell Street Woonona – works to the culvert and upstream open channel will improve its structural stability and the longevity of this stormwater drainage system.
Fairy Meadow Community Centre Roof Replacement and Associated Works – the 26-year old roof will be replaced following an inspection which found it to be at the end of its serviceable life.
Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Maintenance and Service Agreement – the HVAC Service agreement will be renewed to continue to deliver comfort, reliability, and efficiencies for systems across 12 of Council’s community and operational buildings.
At the meeting Council also endorsed the exhibition of the Delivery Program 2018-2022 and draft Operational Plan 2021-2022.
