Police investigation underway after armed robberies at Woonona and Fairy Meadow

A POLICE investigation is underway into armed robberies at Woonona and Fairy Meadow this afternoon.

Just after 2.30pm today (Tuesday May 11), police were called to the Bendigo Bank at Fairy Meadow, after reports of an armed robbery.

Police have been told an unknown man, who was armed with a firearm, threatened two tellers and demanded cash. It’s unknown what was stolen.

A short time after, police were called to Woonona Post Office following reports of an armed robbery, where cash was stolen.

The man has been described as Caucasian in appearance, with a heavy build and light blond scruffy hair. He was wearing a red beanie and a black face mask, a blue check flannelette shirt, grey trackpants, white socks and white Nike slides.

Police are being told the man had a black waterproof hooded jacket over his face at the second location.

Investigations are ongoing, including if the incidents are linked.

Anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage from the surrounding area is urged to call Wollongong Police or Crime Stoppers.
