A VACCINATION hub has opened in the Hunter and there are now calls for a similar facility to be established by the Government in the Illawarra.
The hubs are to boost the speed of the Covid vaccine rollout and administer both the Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines.
State MP for Keira and Shadow Minister for the Illawarra and South Coast, Ryan Park said the Illawarra region must be next in line.
“We need people to come forward and get vaccinated. I am hearing countless stories from locals who are having trouble getting the vaccine or are waiting weeks on end,” Mr Park said.
“The Federal Government have bungled the one job they had so we need to work quickly to try and get this back on track. We need more and more vaccine centres and it just makes sense for the Illawarra South Coast to now have one of these hubs,” he said.
Mr Park who is also the NSW Shadow Minister for Health, also repeated his calls for the NSW Government to institute a state-wide public health promotion campaign to provide the public with clear information about the vaccine rollout, on the benefits of vaccinations and on the low level of health risk associated with the vaccine.
“The best way to avoid restrictions and lockdowns is to have heard immunity. We need to get our population vaccinated so we can protect lives but also livelihoods,” Mr Park said.
