A MAN was arrested at Corrimal on Monday after a home invasion at Tarrawanna.

Two men allegedly forcedtheir way into a Caldwell Avenue home about 10.20pm on Monday, one armed with a firearm. Police allege that a 59-year old man and a 55-year-old woman were at home at the time.

The 59-year-old man closed an internal door in an attempt to stop the men getting to inside. The intruders smashed through the door, injuring the 59-year-old man, before one of the intuders cut his leg on broken glass when fleeing.

Later that day a 29-year-old man was arrested by police on the Princes Highway at Corrimal. He was charged with aggravated break enter with intent, whilst armed with a dangerous weapon. He was also charged with an affray offence allegedly committed on Sunday, April 1.

He was  refused bail and appeared before Wollongong Local Court today.
