A MAN will appear in court today charged over the alleged stabbing of another man in Bellambi yesterday.
About 5pm on Friday, emergency services were called to a bus stop on Rothery Street, Bellambi, following reports of an assault.
Wollongong police found a 21-year-old man with stab wounds to his back and serious injuries to his hand. Police were told the man was involved in an argument with another man at the bus stop before he was stabbed with a knife and slashed with a machete. He was also struck in the leg with the machete.
The injured man was taken to Wollongong Hospital for treatment and has since been transferred to Sydney Hand Hospital.
Following inquiries, police arrested a 20-year-old man at the scene. He was taken to Wollongong Police Station where he was charged with recklessly inflict grievous bodily harm with intent. He’s been refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court today.
