DEVELOPER Stockland have temporarily closed the Sturdee Avenue rail bridge at Bulli as part of the construction process for the McCauley’s Beach residential estate.

Wollongong City Council said the closure is for “a short period of time only”, and that the bridge remains open to pedestrian and cycle access.

“Council has been consulting with the community on future access to McCauley’s Beach Estate,” Council said in a statement.

“This closure is a separate matter and is not pre-emptive of any Council decision.”

Council said it will report back to the community before the end of the year on the results of its recent community consultation.
