A PROVISIONAL licence holder has allegedly been caught travelling well over the speed limit in Helensburgh on Monday.
About 3.40pm on Monday police allegedly detected a 19-year-old P-plate driver travelling at 198kph in a 110kph zone on the F6 Freeway at Helensburgh.
He was driving a Mitsubishi Magna at the time, and was also issued with an infringement for exceed speed by more than 45kph, and had his licence suspended.
Superintendant Stuart Smith, the Commander of Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, said these speeds are a display of utter madness on our roads.
“We are again left shaking our heads over the reckless driving of p-plate drivers putting themselves and other road uses at risk. We will continue to catch and prosecute them”, he said.
Meanwhile, Ambulance paramedics were called to Henry St Tarrawanna at 11.33pm on Sunday after reports of a fire.
A woman in her 40s was treated for smoke inhalation before she was transported to Wollongong
Hospital in a stable condition.
