A REPORT is being prepared for the Coroner after an elderly woman was hit by a 4WD at East Corrimal this morning.

Police believe a 74-year-old woman was attempting to cross Murray Road when she was hit by a Toyota Hilux about 7am (Tuesday). The woman died at the scene.

The driver of the four-wheel-drive was taken to Wollongong Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing. He is currently assisting police with their inquiries. Police are investigating the crash and the vehicle has been seized for mechanical examination.
