AS part of the community consultation on the draft Plan of Management for Sandon Point and McCauley’s Beach Wollongong City Council staff will hold an information kiosk at Thirroul Community Centre and Library tomorrow (February 13).
The information night provides an opportunity for community members and organisations to gain information and provide input into the draft plan of management.
The draft plan identifies the current uses and developments on the land. This draft plan meets Local Government Act 1993 requirement and includes an Access Plan, a Revegetation & Restoration Plan and a Sandon Point Aboriginal Place plan.
The draft document provides ideas and plans to manage this community land with respect for all users and to recognise the area’s rich Aboriginal significance. The draft Revegetation and Restoration Plan proposes how the foreshore vegetation will be managed in the future, to both protect the foreshore and Aboriginal sites, as well as maintain the views from residential properties.
Council has placed the draft plan on public exhibition until February 28. Submissions will be accepted until March 15.
Information sessions about the draft plan are scheduled on:
• February 13 – Information Night 7.30-9.30pm at Thirroul Community Centre/Public Library
• February 27 – Public Hearing at Thirroul Community Centre/Public Library. From 7.30pm
