WOLLONGONG City Council Lifeguards have won the prestigious 2013 Bondi Beach Annual Relay Professional Ocean Lifeguard Team Challenge.

Wollongong City Council’s Beach Services Co-ordinator Jason Foye said th e challenge is the equivalent of the NSW championships and the team of eight lifeguards were competing against some of the best teams in in the state.

”The challenge had councils from Central Coast though to Eurobodalla contesting with Wollongong’s team taking victory in the event. This is a great accomplishment for our lifeguards, displaying the depth of talent we employee in the city to look after beach visitors,” he said.

The team challenge was held at Bondi Beach yesterday (Wednesday). The team consisted of Luke Mittwollen, Dillon Ruiz, Mark Norris, Chanan Clark, Benjamin Griffiths, Nicholas Squires, Beau Wheeler and Mackenzie Hynard.

  1. Thats awesome.. those guys put thier lives on the line everyday and to enter a competition like that and win it must give them a real buzz!
