A MAN has been charged after allegedly lighting a fire in bushland at Helensburgh on Saturday afternoon.About 6pm police were called to the rail corridor at Helensburgh after RFS personnel extinguished a number of small spot fires in the area
Investigations determined the fires had been deliberately lit.
A 45-year-old man was found in nearby bushland and spoken to by police. The man, who was allegedly found in possession of a cigarette lighter, was arrested and taken to Wollongong Police Station.
He was charged with intentionally causing fire and be reckless as to its spread.Investigations into the fires are continuing.
