YOUR local library is getting in early with a spring clean of books, which have been retired from their collections, with a Winter sale.

A pre-loved book can be purchased by visiting Helensburgh, Thirroul and Corrimal libraries until Friday July 15.

Books for adults, young people and children are on sale, all for 50 cents each and can be purchased with cash or card.

Wollongong Lord Mayor Gordon Bradbery said proceeds from the Winter Book Sale will go to Friends of Wollongong City Libraries. The Friends of Wollongong City Libraries are an independent group who support and promote libraries as well as host regular events.

“Help us find a new home for an old book that offers well-spent hours of entertainment, inspiration, food for the soul or fascinating information,” Cr Bradbery said.

“Winter is the best time of year to curl up with a good book. We’re encouraging everyone to escape the cold and find your next great read, or five.

“This is a real bargain and we’re expecting to sell out quickly. I suggest you make your way to your local library soon, to make the most of this opportunity. And if you can’t spare the 50cents, you can always borrow a book instead.”
