
POLICE are appealing for information after a home invasion and house fire at Bellambi on Thursday, 31 August, 2023.
Emergency services were called to house on Sellers Crescent, Bellambi, following reports of a fire just after 4.20am on 31 August. On arrival, Wollongong police found two men – one 47-years-old and the second 41 with head injuries and a house on fire.
The fire was extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW.
Police were told two men armed with an axe and a tyre iron broke into the house, assaulted the two men and set the house on fire. The two home invaders fled after being confronted by one of the residents.
Both men were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Wollongong Hospital.
A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident is underway.
