DESPITE a healthy young membership, a lack of adult volunteers is threatening future activities for Austinmer Scouts.
A spokesperson said as the 1st Austinmer Scouts approaches its centenary, the movement is in desperate need of further adult volunteers to help continue the group’s activities.
“For 99 years Austinmer Scout Group has been serving the youth and families of the northern suburbs of the Illawarra,” the spokesperson said.
“We currently have all five youth Sections within Scouting operating, supporting youth from five to 25 years of age. Unfortunately, regardless of healthy youth member numbers, without adult volunteers to step up and become leaders within our great community we will be forced to make the heartbreaking decision to close multiple of our youth sections at the end of 2023.”
