
A MAN has died in St George Hospital following a fatal scooter crash at Thirroul earlier this month.
Emergency services were called to Lawrence Hargrave Drive, Thirroul, about 5.30pm on Wednesday (January 10 2024), following reports of the crash.
On arrival, Wollongong police found a 61-year-old man suffering from significant injuries. He was treated by paramedics before being taken to Wollongong Hospital, where he was later transported to St George Hospital in a serious condition.
Police were told that the man was riding his scooter before he allegedly crashed into the gutter. A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident commenced.
On Friday (January 26 2024), police were notified that the man had died at St George Hospital.
As inquiries continue, anyone with information, has dash cam footage or rendered first aid at the time of incident is urged to contact Wollongong Police District or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
