WANT to learn bush dancing? Take an aqua aerobics class? Or does forest therapy sound just right for you? Wherever your interests lie, the Wollongong City Council 2024 Seniors Festival program is offering something for everyone to enjoy.
This year, the NSW Seniors Festival will be held from Monday 11 to Sunday 24 March 2024. Here in the City of Wollongong, Council is celebrating with a two-week celebration of events, activities, and workshops.
During the festival, seniors will be able to take part in all sorts of activities, from cultural luncheons to watercolour workshops to the highly anticipated Lady Mayoress Afternoon Tea Dance.
Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said that this year’s event theme, Reach Beyond, encouraged people to try something new and celebrate in style.
“This year, the Seniors Festival program is jam-packed with great community events, with over 80 events and workshops taking place in Wollongong over the two-weeks. That’s more than double what we had in 2023,” Cr Bradbery said.
“There’s a real mix of free and paid activities so that everyone can get involved. Seniors Festival is an opportunity for those who are older in years to get together and celebrate their involvement in our community.
“It’s too easy for people to lose touch with their community as they age and lose connections with others. At its heart, Seniors Festival is all about encouraging seniors to get involved in community life while also having fun.”
