DO you know an exceptional young person? Perhaps they’re excellent at their chosen sport, have a uniquely creative art style, or maybe they volunteer their time for the community?
If you know someone who should be recognised, now’s the time to nominate them for the 2024 Wollongong Youth Week Awards.
This year marks the second year that Wollongong City Council will hold an award ceremony to recognise and highlight the extraordinary achievements of young people living in the Wollongong Local Government Area (LGA). Like last year, there are seven award categories for people to choose from, including:
- Young Person – Volunteer
- Young Person – Sportsperson
- Young Person – Performer
- Young Person – Artist
- Young Person – Community Ambassador
- Young Person – Environmentalist
- Young Person – Small Business.
You have until Friday March 29 2024 to submit your nomination. See here for more information.
Wollongong Lord Mayor Gordon Bradbery said Council were impressed by the nominations and the winners of last year’s award ceremony.
“It shows how important our young people are in making the City of Wollongong a great place to live, work and play,” he said.
“Here at Council, we want to celebrate the successes, achievements, and positive influence of our young people. There are so many people of all ages doing good in their community, or excelling in their chosen area and the Youth Week Awards is just one small way we can acknowledge this.
“I encourage everyone to take a moment to think about the young people in your life. I’m sure you know someone who is doing something extraordinary. Please submit your nominations by the deadline so that later in the year we can celebrate these people as a city.”
