
THE Woonona East Public School will receive much-needed playground repairs and a makeover to the value of $29,850 under the NSW Government’s 2023 Community Building Partnership Program.
State MP for Keira Ryan Park said his electorate has secured $300,000 in funding for a total of 16 projects through the program.
“The State Government funds will deliver much-needed improvements to local facilities including playground upgrades, sports ground drainage improvements, performance space upgrades, and a community beach wheelchair,” he said.
“This is fantastic news for Keira.
“This grassroots funding will directly help create a more vibrant and inclusive local community with positive social, environmental and recreational outcomes.
“I congratulate all the organisations that were successful in their application and look forward to seeing how these projects make a real difference for community groups in the area.”
The list of successful projects in the Keira electorate include:
- Balgownie Scouts, upgrade and waterproofing the venturer den – $8,000
- Woonona East Public School P&C, much needed playground repairs and makeover – $29,850
- Woonona Surf Life Saving Club Inc, a beach wheelchair for the community to increase aquatic participation – $6,050
- Balgownie Rangers Soccer Club Inc, installation of drainage and rainwater tanks – $50,000
- Russell Vale Golf & Social Club Ltd, replacement furniture for clubhouse – $15,000
- Tarrawanna Blueys FC Inc, fully monitored 24/7 publicly accessible defibrillator – $5,990.
- Arcadians Theatre Group, stage upgrade, including removal and replacement – $30,000
- Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect), sensory playground equipment – $13,000
- Keiraville Community Preschool Inc, replacement of outdoor dramatic play space – $20,580
- Life Education NSW Ltd, upgrading Healthy Harold’s mobile learning centre – $11,363
- Precarious Inc (Circus Monoxide), mezzanine floor to create storage space for an office and change rooms – $19,000
- Wollongong City Council, removal and replacement of existing playground at Coreen Park – $20,000
- Mount Kembla Public School P&C, drinking water station – $15,904
- Wollongong Conservatorium of Music Ltd, installation of air conditioners in two performing spaces – $9,985
- Unanderra Primary School P&C, sensory garden and cubby house play zone – $30,000
- Nareena Hills P&C, canteen repairs and equipment – $15,278.
The Community Building Partnership program has funded more than 19,700 community projects since it commenced in 2009.
