The damaged footpath near Scarborough Public School

WORK starts next week to repair landslip damage to the road and pedestrian footpath on Lawrence Hargrave Drive about 50 metres north of Scarborough Public School.

Repair work starts on Monday 15 July and is expected to take 12 weeks to complete, weather permitting.

All work will be carried out during the day between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday.

Transport for NSW closed one lane of the road in May to keep motorists and pedestrians safe until the damage could be repaired. There will be no additional impact on traffic during the day work, as it will be carried out under the existing traffic control arrangements including the single lane closure and a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h.

The footpath will remain open and pedestrians will be directed by traffic controllers during work hours.

Transport for NSW is managing an extensive program to repair more than 100 landslip sites across several key roads across the Illawarra and South Coast.

This includes an extensive program to repair significant landslip damage on Bulli Pass and also completing designs for work at another landslip site on Lawrence Hargrave Drive at Stanwell Park.
