A MAN has been charged with firearm and drug offences after he was searched in the car park of a Woonona motel.

About 12.20am yesterday (Wednesday 23 October 2024), police were conducting patrols along the Princes Highway, Woonona.

Officers pulled into the car park of the Princes Highway motel following reports of a man allegedly acting suspicious.

Police searched the man, allegedly finding a pistol and drugs.

The 41-year-old man was arrested and taken to Wollongong Police Station where he was charged with possess unregistered firearm-pistol, not keep firearm safely-pistol and supply prohibited drug more than indictable and less than commercial quantity.

He was refused bail and appeared before Wollongong Local Court yesterday (Wednesday 23 October 2024), where he was formally refused bail to reappear in the same court on Tuesday 26 November 2024.
