
A MAN has been charged following an alleged hit-and-run at Fairy Meadow.
Strike Force Nubrigyn was established by Wollongong detectives to investigate the circumstances of a crash at the intersection of Daisy Street and Princes Highway, Fairy Meadow, about 8.55pm on Wednesday 16 October 2024.
Wollongong police and NSW Ambulance paramedics provided assistance to a 57-year-old man after he suffered serious head and chest injuries. He was taken to Wollongong Hospital in a critical condition before he was transferred to St George Hospital. The man was transferred to Liverpool Hospital where he remains.
A crime scene was established on the night, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident commenced.
Following inquiries and an appeal for assistance, officers attached to Strike Force Nubrigyn arrested a 27-year-old man at Wollongong Police Station about 1.20pm on Sunday (1 December 2024).
The man was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – driver manner dangerous, fail to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing grievous bodily harm, not give particulars to police and responsible person/custodian not disclose driver’s details. He was given conditional bail to appear before Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday 14 January 2025.
