IT’S his busiest time of year, but Santa still has time in his schedule to respond to mail – provided the letters to him are mailed by 14 December.

All seven Wollongong City Libraries, including at Helensburgh, Thirroul and Corrimal, have installed special mailboxes so that our littlest residents can ensure their Christmas wish-list reaches the North Pole before Santa sets off on Christmas Eve.

All letters sent before this date will receive a personalised response from Santa, and the best chance of Christmas wishes finding their way to underneath the right Christmas Tree.

All letters addressed to Santa can be dropped off at your local library up until Saturday 14 December.

While you’re there, each of the library locations are also drop-off points for this year’s Giving Tree Appeal, with donations accepted up until this Friday (13 December).

Conducted with community partners Anglicare and St Vincent de Paul, last year’s appeal saw more than 1400 toys donated for children up to 16 years of age.

While all contributions are appreciated, Council and its partners are asking those thinking of donating consider donations appropriate for children 11 and 12 or older.

“It is a wonderful time of year, particularly for our youngest residents, and a return letter from Santa can make for a very memorable and fun experience,” Wollongong Lord Mayor Tania Brown said.

“It’s an effort we can all make this Christmas through our Giving Tree Appeal to ensure those less fortunate in our community can also enjoy fond memories through a visit from Santa and allow their families to enjoy those special moments some of us may take for granted.

“There’s still time to donate in this final week and I urge anyone able to consider doing so, perhaps while mailing a letter to Santa.”

Donations of unwrapped gifts can be made until 13 December to ensure gifts can be processed and distributed prior to 25 December.
