A MAN will face court today charged with fraud and larceny offences, in the Illawarra after his vehicle was stopped on the Princes Highway at Maddens Plains yesterday.

In February 2023, a report was made to Wollongong Police of alleged fraudulent transactions being made by an employee of a business in Stewart street, Wollongong, and an investigation commenced.

Following extensive inquiries, about 4.30pm yesterday (Monday 2 June 2025), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command stopped a vehicle on the Princes Highway, Maddens Plains, near Bulli Pass, and arrested a 44-year-old man.

He was taken to Wollongong Police Station and charged with three counts of steal property as clerk/servant, dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime.

He was refused bail to appear in Wollongong Local Court today (Tuesday 3 June 2025).

Police will allege in court 82 fraudulent transactions were made by an employee of the business, totalling more than $395,500.
