POLICE are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a pedestrian was hit by a car at Fairy Meadow on Tuesday night.
Wollongong Police were called to Elliotts Road about 9.20pm where they found a 23-year-old woman lying injured on the road.
Witnesses have told police the woman was hit by a car travelling east.
A short time later, a 35-year-old man attended Wollongong Police Station to make a report as the driver in the incident.
The woman was transported by ambulance to Wollongong Hospital, where she is receiving treatment for fractures and internal bleeding. She is reported to be in a critical but stable condition.
Police are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
