A WEBINAR will be held tonight on the controversial ‘South Pacific Offshore Wind Project’.
The South Pacific Offshore Wind Project is proposed to be located off the Illawarra coast, in the anticipated offshore renewable energy zone in the Pacific Ocean.
Spanish offshore wind developer BlueFloat Energy has announced its “preferred” location for the 105 turbines around 14km off the Illawarra coast between Clifton and Shellharbour.
After considering a number of sites, BlueFloat says the preferred site for the floating wind turbines has been chosen due to a strong and consistent wind resource and its proximity to an existing industrial base at Port Kembla. The Project is a 1.6 GW floating wind project, and will generate enough electricity to power 825,000 homes.
The webinar will be held online tonight, Monday, June 19, 2023, from 5pm to 6pm.
